Transform Your Space: From Inspiration to Reality with Kevin’s Cabinets
A remodel usually begins with an urge or spark to create a more appealing and functional space. It may mean knocking down walls and opening up an area to create more room or it may just be refreshing the same space you have. Whatever the case, you may be looking at pictures and posts and have an idea of what you like or you may have even hired an interior designer to help you find your niche. When you trust Kevin’s cabinets for your kitchen remodel, or bathroom remodel in your Flagstaff area home, we will come to you for measurements and construction expertise to help with this planning phase. We also have an interior designer in house or can steer you toward trusted partners to help with your vision.
Experience Your Vision at
Our Flagstaff Showroom
A visit to our showroom located at 5200 E. Cortland Blvd. Suite A7, can help pull the vision together with cabinet door samples, stain and paint colors, countertops and flooring. Our designers will create your new space in our kitchen design program. This initial design will be complimentary including up to 8 hours of design/consultation time. An estimate for construction will be supplied to you with pricing on cabinets, countertops, flooring, and construction. At that point, if changes are requested in the design or construction portion, we require a $300 design deposit to continue working on the project, which will be allocated towards your cabinet purchase as long as the time spent with our designers remains under 8 hours. If additional design time is required, the deposit may become nonrefundable and additional charges may be accrued hourly. (This will be conveyed to the customer beforehand.)
Transparent Remodeling Costs: Understanding Allowances and Estimates
With a remodel, there are sometimes items that are non-quotable. For instance, plumbing and electrical are always estimated as an allowance in your quote, which means we will estimate your project based on past projects, but if a job goes over the allowance, the homeowner is responsible for the overage. Kevin’s Cabinets / Junipine Construction is always very transparent in billing and supplying receipts to our customers.
Finalizing Your Remodel: Cabinets, Countertops, and Key Details
Once the cabinet door style, wood and color have been selected, countertops should be chosen. This sometimes can mean a visit to Arizona Tile and Stone to select slabs for your kitchen or bathroom remodel. When you decide to trust us with your remodel project, we will have you supply a deposit and sign off on the construction quote and cabinet proposal. The deposit required will be 75% of the cabinets and 50% for the countertops. This allows for the cabinet order to be placed and countertops to be reserved and scheduled with the countertop folks. Just before the cabinet order is placed, Kevin will come to your home and do final measurements. This will ensure no errors have occurred in translation. We take pride in the journey to perfection and reduced errors.
NOTE: Appliances, if selecting new ones, must be chosen by this time. Model #’s and specs are required for ordering cabinets and getting that perfect fit. Plumbing fixtures must also be chosen in this early phase; specifically sinks and bathtubs.
Preparing for Installation: Demolition and Delivery Timelines
When the cabinets come in, or just prior to, our crew will begin necessary demolition. Cabinets, depending on the manufacturer, can take anywhere from 1 to 10 weeks for delivery. Please visit the Brands we love for specific times of each manufacturer. As demolition is scheduled, we will collect the construction deposit of ~33%. (Progress invoices will be sent out as the project moves along.)
Remodel Timeline: From Demo to Final Touches
The timeline for remodel is typically as follows: Begin demo upon cabinet delivery (or just before). Rebuild/ cabinet install takes 2 days weeks depending on the scope of the job. We will then schedule the countertop template as soon as humanly possible – once the base cabinets are in place. The countertop, from template to install, takes about 4 weeks. While waiting for countertops, we will proceed with the remodel work and electrical/plumbing, floor, painting etc. Sinks will need to be onsite when the countertop contractor comes to template. If you would like a temporary sink setup while waiting for the countertops to be installed, we can make that happen as well. It is a little additional $ to have the plumber come and hook it up with a temporary countertop, but we can arrange that if you would like.
NOTE: This is a great opportunity to pick out cabinet hardware and backsplash tile!
Final Touches: Completing Your Remodel with Precision
When countertops are in and new flooring (if being done) has been laid, Kevin’s Cabinets crew will come in for the final trims and touchups. The plumber and electrician will be scheduled to come in and finish hooking everything up. Tile backsplash will be installed, and hardware will be put on. This process typically takes a week to 10 days.
How Long Will Your Remodel Take? It Depends!
So, the question remains… how long does a kitchen or bathroom remodel take? The answer is… it depends on the scope, availability of supplies, schedules, etc! But I think you have a fairly good idea of the process and timeline. We at Kevin’s Cabinets and Junipine Construction know that it is a pain in the behind to be displaced from your main working areas of a home and really try our best to keep the disruption minimal and bearable. You will find that we take pride in proper floor and dust protection, clean job sites, timeliness, precise installs and customer satisfaction.
