When you hire Kevin’s Cabinets or Junipine Construction to perform your remodeling project, new flooring is oftentimes on your wishlist. With a wide selection of vinyl plank flooring, veneer and engineered hardwood, you will be able to choose flooring colors alongside cabinets, making the design decision easy without traveling across town. Designers will often tell you to choose flooring first, before cabinets. This is because the flooring is such a large palate in comparison to the cabinets. Being able to choose cabinets and flooring simultaneously, makes the decision much easier.
The new flooring process begins with a measure of the room. We will calculate the square footage required with overage. Some tile patterns require more waste or overage than others, but typically, 10% is an average waste when installing tile, engineered wood, luxury vinyl tile or laminate. Cabinets can be installed on top of some flooring, but usually we will try to bring the flooring up to the cabinets. If done perfect, the need for trim may be eliminated. If trim around the cabinets is necessary, we will order shoe molding to cover up that tiny gap, leaving a clean floor to cabinet look.
Our team is able to install all types of flooring for your project, including tile, carpet, LVP, hardwood, etc. The installation cost can vary depending on the amount of prep work required for your home to achieve that acceptable level working surface before the actual flooring can be laid. Our starting price for flooring installation is around $4.00 / square foot with an allowance for floor prep.
Carpet is more forgiving on uneven surfaces and can usually be installed more affordably than hard surfaces.
